As Director, I am writing this message to each of you today in these extraordinary circumstances that are affecting us all.
This April 2020 news should have been announcing the start of the season of guided tours by our member associations and thanking you for your attendance at the Brussels Art Nouveau & Art Deco (BANAD) Festival which should have come to a glorious end two days ago.
The COVID 19 (Coronavirus) epidemic forced us to suspend the 2020 BANAD Festival only a few hours before its official opening, and the lockdown has forced the postponement of the start of the season of guided tours. On behalf of Explore.Brussels, I would like to say that I understand and support the courageous decisions made by the government to protect public health above everything else.
Despite the disappointment of having to suspend the BANAD Festival, on which they had been working for a year, the members of the Explore.Brussels team: Caroline, Charlotte, Dominika, Martin and Thomas, and our member associations: ARAU, Arkadia, Chatter Brussels and Pro Velo, have remained positive and motivated. I would like to record my sincere thanks to them for this!
I would also like to thank the building owners, guides, event partners and, of course, you, our visitors, for all your messages of support that have touched us deeply in these difficult times.
This extraordinary situation has raised many questions for Explore.Brussels and its member associations. Despite everything, we are able to make some progress and I can now give you details of the decisions we have made, project by project, in the various sections of this news just below.
You can still contact Explore.Brussels by telephone and email from Monday to Friday, but our office will remain closed to the public for as long as the lockdown lasts. During this period, the Explore.Brussels team will be bringing our architectural and cultural heritage to life on social media, where I invite you to join us.
Thank you for your patience, your understanding and your support.
Together, let us continue to bring Brussels' architectural and cultural heritage to life!
The 2020 BANAD Festival has been partially postponed from 26 September to 4 October 2020. The Explore.Brussels team has chosen to create a mini website called BANAD Festival autumn edition which gives details of what to do.
The guided tours of the Art Nouveau mansions have been postponed until after the lockdown ends. All ticket-holders will be contacted with more details.
The 2020 season of guided tours organised by our member associations and partners: ARAU, Arkadia, ChatterBrussels, Pro Velo and La Fonderie, will begin as soon as possible, depending on the duration of the lockdown.
Brussels Biennale - Neoclassic (BBN)
At present, we intend to hold the Brussels Neoclassical Biennale (BBN) from 10 to 18 October 2020 as planned.
