Originally referred to as the Palace of the Prince of Orange, this edifice and its stables were built during the Dutch period, between 1823 and 1828, by the Belgian architect Charles Vander Straeten (1771-1834). The palace was destined for Prince William II of Orange in recognition of his valiant conduct during the Battle of Waterloo. The architect Tilman-François Suys (1783-1861) supervised the end of the works after Charles Vander Straeten was removed from office. The Palace has seen various uses and transformations over time. Today it houses the Royal Academy of Science, Letters and Fine Arts of Belgium, among others.
The visits are accessible to wheelchair users.
