15. Royal Park Theatre

Arch. Louis MONTOYER, 1782

SUNDAY 06 OCTOBER 2024

Rue de la Loi 3, 1000 Brussels

Time: 45 min

Together with the Cercle Royal Gaulois and the bandstand of the former Vauxhall, the Royal Park Theatre forms a homogenous architectural ensemble in the north-eastern corner of the Park. To start with, it was part of La Monnaie Theatre and mostly used for performances for children. The original building was designed in 1782 by architect Louis Montoyer but was the subject of several transformations over the years, notably by architects H. Partoes, J. Poelaert and V. Jamaer. Despite these changes, the Theatre remains essentially Neoclassical in style as can be seen in the remarkable Louis XVI decoration of the horseshoe-shaped auditorium and the elegant caryatides on the sides of the three proscenium boxes, one on top of the other.

The visits are accessible to wheelchair users.
